After a very long weekend of packing, loading up the truck, unpacking and starting to settle in…we are now in our new home!
I love, love, love my new house. It is really bright — bright enough that during the day we really don’t need to have any lights on. The house has a very relaxing, comfortable energy. My kitchen has good counter space, lots of cabinets, and a full pantry. I had fun shopping to stock my pantry, and I set up in such a way that it is easy to cook in. In my master bath, I have a tub I have always dreamed of….big enough to soak in fully, it’s just lovely.
There is still a lot to be done — finish unpacking, put in/build shelves for the library, get a bedroom set so that our bed can become a guest bed and we can fully unpack the rest of our clothes. We still need a kitchen table, need to start hanging pictures, etc, but it already feels like home and feels like a restful haven, which is what I wanted.
Here are some pictures of the progress we have made so far:
My living room, before the furniture arrived
Living room, with our great new couch and loveseat, and a happy B reading a paper in his recliner.
My kitchen, I love cooking in it
One view of my library. The wall above the couch will have a half-wall of book shelves and the wall next to it will have a full wall of book shelves. I want white bookshelves and to paint the room a rich chocolate brown, with probably white curtains.
Another view of the library and the great light that I have.
My art studio upstairs. I love having my own creative space. I think I want to paint this kind of a seafoam green, that I sponge for texture.
My swoony tub! The bathroom is in blues and greens right now: a seafoam green bath mat, a blue bath mat, blue handtowel, some blue glass bottles on the tub, and a mermaid and some shells on the window ledge. I think I will paint this in some kind of blue.
The half bath downstairs.
As we continue to make progress and make the house more homey, I will update with new photos 🙂
congrats! it looks awesome!
